Kobayashiiiiiiiii!

Takeru Kobayashi is the reigning six-time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest champion! And as sick as it is seeing him compete, live-action, it’s somehow quite manly when animated. Observe:

StarCraft II International Trailer!

It’s about damn time! No word on release date, but it’s going to release concurrently for Windows XP, Vista, and Mac OSX. Gotta brush off them old StarCraft skills and hop back in. Not much to go on in terms of other graphics or gameplay details, and yeah, it really seems like this sequel is ages too late, but hell, it’s StarCraft! That’s enough for me.

Um… this would be absolutely hysterical if it were a parody.

John Rambo

If this preview footage is any indication, this movie will not be for the squeamish. With all the blood and guts and heads rolling, there’s no way this footage will make it uncut as a preview.

You know, I kinda want to see this now. I was skeptical about another Rambo flick. But I quite liked Rocky Balboa which I initially panned when I heard about it so this Rambo thing might be worth a look. I suspect a good part will focus on some character reflecting for John Rambo and the rest will be a gory blood bath.

Anyway, if you’re an action junkie, click away.

Ultraman and Nobodyknows+

Don’t know the name of this song but this has to be one of my most favorite music videos ever! Nobodyknows+ gives us an inside look at the private life of Ultraman. It’s tough for Earth’s silver and red protector to keep his woman happy and protect us from giant crustacean monsters. Ultraman in love. How completely awesome!

Blue King Brown – “Water”

This video was shot in a single day. Very impressive. The group is tight, the music has a modern yet classic feel to it, and the lead singer has a great voice.

The interesting thing is that this song recounts the many injustices that the “white man” has visited upon the “black man.” One lyric says that they “took away the land and they brought disease.” The hook tells us that “the white man has the key to a black man’s identity.” As I watched, I wanted to go up to her and whisper in her ear, “Don’t know if you noticed, but the guys providing the tasty groove that you’re singing over are white men.”

The other thing is that to allow another person to hold the “key” to your “identity” is a load of shit. You define who you are. As soon as you give that power to someone else, game over.

Still, the lyrics are thought provoking and the song grooves. Can’t wait to hear more from them.

U.K. Swear Words

Searing in other languages is the dog’s bollocks. It’s always good to have a few extra swears in your pocket just in case you want to whip them out in polite company.

Nobodyknows+, “Hero’s Comeback”

This is Nobodyknows+’s video for “Hero’s Comeback,” the opening theme to Naruto Shippuden. There’s so much that’s so good about Nobodyknows+. They have a Cyclon, MARK I, rapper. They have a dude with a big, puffy, Bob Ross afro. The dude in the opening does his best Triple H water spitting jutsu impression. AND, they’ve got a guy with Cookie Monster’s voice! Nobodyknows+ FTW!

Here’s a live version where one of them is dressed up as a coy. Because, um, yeah.

Larry Wright, Street Drummer

This is Larry Wright hitting buckets to deliver some wicked fast and tasty grooves. I don’t understand how people can just walk past and ignore this great music.

And here’s an interview with Larry and his wife, Sonya. If you’re in New York, you can catch them in the subway.
